When comparing carpet which is more important to look for?

Years ago all carpet makers listed the pile weight as a way to judge the quality of carpet.  That was only the pile, no backing. That's not the case now except for commercial carpets.  Don't judge by weight.  Let your hands and eyes do it for you.  Also remember that a fat fiber, tall carpet will give you a higher weight but not a better wear.
